Kara Manqueros is a San Diego-based photographer specializing in non-traditional settings, with portraits for individuals as well as groups. Always enjoying photography as a hobby, she began to study her art in more detail and discovered her passion for documenting love and connection amongst family more than 20 years ago. Her gift for finely tuned arrangement was from her father - a published commercial and landscape photographer. “I always enjoyed my Dad’s eye for color and composition, but wanted to have souls as my subjects as opposed to only nature” she states simply.

     As a mother-of-three Kara understands how precious her subjects are, seen through the eyes of those that love them most. Kara explains, “Capturing those moments for which a parent is usually the only witness takes patience, trust, and experience. Those moments don’t often come on cue, but they are the flashes of purity that parents want to remember forever. I try very hard to make those brief seconds last forever with my camera”.

     Professional sittings are another area that Kara has focused on with an eye toward improving the usual experience. “Most sittings for professional use put people in uncomfortable settings, with unnatural postures. I want my clients to relax, have some fun, and show their true selves! Isn’t that what they want their Clients to see” she asks with a quick smile?

     Through the journey of raising her three children including her treasured autistic son, Kara has discovered her talent for capturing the essence of our true selves, and now wants to share that individual beauty with everyone through the eye of a camera lens
